What is the R6 Market Place?
The R6 Market Place is Ubisoft’s official trading platform for Rainbow Six Siege cosmetic items, letting players buy and sell weapon skins, charms, uniforms, headgear, and attachment skins using R6 Credits. It launched June 10, 2025, alongside the Siege X relaunch, and functions as an order-book style exchange rather than a fixed-price storefront.
What level do I need to reach to use it?
Accounts need to reach Clearance Level 25 and have two-factor authentication enabled before trading is unlocked. This requirement was designed specifically as a security measure, making it harder for compromised or freshly created accounts to be used for trading abuse.
Can I trade items from the current season?
Generally, no — items from the currently active season are typically excluded from trading until the following season launches. This kept the newest cosmetics available only through direct purchase or normal in-game earning for a limited window before becoming tradable on the Marketplace.
How much does it cost to sell an item?
Ubisoft applies a 10% fee on completed sales, automatically deducted from the final sale price. There’s no separate fee for buying beyond the price paid for the item itself.
Can I use real money or trade directly with friends?
No. The Marketplace operates strictly on R6 Credits, and Ubisoft has stated it prefers the anonymous order-book system specifically to prevent scams and to avoid opening a path to real-money trading workarounds. Direct trading between specific friends isn’t part of the system’s design, and there’s no indication this is planned for any future version either.
Can I use Renown to trade?
No — the Marketplace only accepts R6 Credits, the game’s premium currency, not Renown, the currency earned through regular gameplay. There have been no announced plans to add Renown as an accepted currency for Marketplace transactions.
Is the R6 Market Place currently working?
No. As of mid-August 2026, the Marketplace remains offline. It went down on December 27, 2025, following a security breach, and Ubisoft’s June 30, 2026 update, “Marketplace & Economy: A New Direction,” confirmed it won’t be returning soon and may look different when it does relaunch. No specific reopening date has been announced.
Why did Ubisoft shut it down?
Ubisoft cited widespread abuse of the trading system, including account theft, botting, and unauthorized credit transfers tied to a significant share of all transactions, along with broader pricing distortion and skewed item circulation that threw off the game’s overall cosmetic economy.
Is anything else in the game affected by the shutdown?
No. Ranked play, the in-game shop, Battle Passes, and every other core part of Rainbow Six Siege continue functioning normally — only the player-to-player trading feature specifically is offline.
Where can I get real, current updates?
Ubisoft’s official Rainbow Six Siege news hub and roadmap page are the most reliable sources for actual updates, since predicted return dates circulating on social media and third-party sites have repeatedly proven inaccurate throughout 2026. Checking there directly, rather than relying on secondhand summaries, is the best way to get current, accurate information.
